Driving Free Targeted Website Traffic - Part 2

Welcome back to my "Driving Free Targeted Website Traffic" blog series.

Part 2 of "Driving Free Targeted Website Traffic"
Welcome to "Driving Free Targeted Website Traffic" - Part 2
Before we jump into this article, let's take a quick recap of the previous one, Part 1: Driving Free Targeted Website Traffic.

In the previous post, I started to explain about the different types of website traffic. These types included direct traffic, organic traffic and referred traffic. After gaining an understanding of the different types of website traffic that can land on your links, we are going to continue to the actual strategies that you can use to drive free targeted website traffic to your site, blog, landing pages or even to your affiliate links.

Free Targeted Website Traffic

Today we will be looking at the actual strategies that you can use to drive free targeted visitors to almost any kind of website, blog or landing page. Some of the methods will require some additional steps to be implemented should you be interested in promoting your affiliate links - I will be covering all the steps right here so you can get started immediately.

Article Marketing

Let's start off with the most basic and easiest to do strategy of them all, Article Marketing. This method allows you to generate a large amount of traffic through a very creative and unique marketing strategy.

Article marketing is a process of writing high quality articles and publishing them on different article platforms with a link back to your website. The goal here is to craft a perfect article that will spread virally on the internet in a short amount of time. This will send hoards of free targeted website traffic back to you, while also building high quality backlinks that point directly to your website.

Although the process of performing article marketing to drive targeted traffic to your website is quite straightforward and simple, you need to focus your attention on the quality and relevancy of the article you submit.

You see, whenever you submit an article to any of the article platforms on the internet, they publish your article on their platform and it immediately becomes available to everyone using the platform. The thing here is not everyone using the platform uses it to post articles - some people use these platforms for curated content.

Curated content is simply a collection of content that comes from many different sources. For example, if you are writing an article and focusing on the weight loss niche, a curator that presents information about health and weight loss might pick up your article and include it on their website or email list. Whenever someone republishes your article on their website, blog or email newsletter, they are required to KEEP the link you added that links back to your website.

You should now be able to realize just how much potential this system has. If you do not have the ability and talent to write high quality articles that go viral quickly, it might be a good idea to get the help of a professional freelance writer with experience in this type of internet marketing field.

Make sure you also pay attention to the following elements:

  • Always target a keyword in your article. Try to find a keyword with low competition.
  • Only publish high quality articles that will spread quickly.
  • The more you publish the higher you rank (on some article platforms)
  • Make sure your title is "clickable". It should be crafty and attractive and should catch the attention of readers immediately.
  • Include relevant and helpful information in your article that's worth sharing.
  • Include a relevant and optimized call-to-action at the bottom of your article with a link back to your website.
One problem that you might face when it comes to including a link at the bottom of your article is that some of the article platforms are quite strict about the links you include. While some will have additional rules and requirements, most platforms ask that you only link to your top-level domain (or your root domain). This means that you cannot link to http://example.com/my-wonderful-article, but rather simply to http://example.com.

If you are promoting affiliate links, then this can be a big downer for you. Luckily there's a workaround used by thousands of online affiliate marketers and it works great. Simply register a domain name that relates closely to the niche you are targeted, or even specifically to the product you are promoting. Then add a redirect to your domain so that it automatically redirects users to your affiliate URL. Many hosting providers offer the option to redirect with a mast, which means your domain name will appear in the user's browser, but they will see the landing page of your affiliate link.

Publish your articles to as many platforms as you can to increase it's exposure and make it spread more quickly.

YouTube Video Marketing

One of the best ways I find to drive free targeted website traffic to ANY of my links is through video marketing on YouTube and other video sharing platforms like DailyMotion and Vimeo.

I know many people who tried to get started with video marketing, but quit as soon as they thought of the idea that they had to appear in front of a camera. I always tell these people they couldn't be more wrong.

With all the recent advancements in technology and lead generation, creating a simple informative video with a screen capture tool or a simple whiteboard animated video can do wonders for your online business.

All you need to do is create a video about a topic in the niche you're targeting. Add a voiceover or soundtrack to your video and publish it to YouTube and other popular video sharing platforms. Remember to craft a good title for your video, fill in a proper description that targets popular YouTube search terms, and finally tag your video with relevant tags to increase it's exposure and make it easier to find.

You should also include a link back to your website within the description of every video you upload to these platforms. This is how you will be generating free targeted website traffic through video marketing.

Social Media Marketing

Never forget about social media. a Larger part of our population now has access to a device connected to the internet using some technology such as mobile data, Wi-Fi or Fibre. With this advancement in technology and easier access to internet, more and more people are starting to use social media.

Millions of users log into their social media accounts every day to get the latest updates from friends, family and even businesses. This is why it's a goldmine to tap into.

There are different strategies involved with social media marketing, but the most important part is to actually have a presence for your website on major social networks such as:

Twitter is the only network where you have to create a seperate account for your website. Make sure to choose a username that's closely related to the name of your website, or create a new "brand" name for your online marketing strategies.

Other networks such as Facebook and Pinterest can be utilized by using your own personal account, or by creating a "virtual" account with a pen name.

Simply create a presence for your website on these networks and be active every day. Also follow other accounts related to your niche, and interact with their posts. If you continue doing this for a couple of days, you will start to see an improvement in your following and you will be able to drive free targeted website traffic back to your link using social media marketing.

Forum Posting

Here's another excellent strategy that allows you to drive highly targeted traffic back to your website. This also helps you build quality backlinks to your website at the same time. It's like hitting two birds with one stone I always say!

To drive free targeted website traffic to your links from forums, you simply need to create an account on forums related to your niche, add a link in your signature and become an active member.

The secret here is to provide meaningful and helpful replies and threads. You need to make your account seem very natural and provide as much value as you can. If you do not have enough information to post a reply on a thread, do some research before posting. Also DO NOT post "thank you for sharing" replies - this will flag your account as a spammer and you could be banned from the forum forever.

You should also focus on creating a catchy call-to-action to place in your signature, instead of simply pasting a link. Try to create a call-to-action where you can hyperlink some of the words to the link you want to send free targeted traffic to.
